VIBE
VIBE is the school choir mentioned beforehand, which I have first failed to get in. Not only was it my first participation in a group related to music, but it was also the cornerstone for me to start being truly absorbed into singing. Before high school, I was a kid who always preferred dancing to singing in front of other people and had not yet figured out the joy of singing. Though I have also enjoyed going to karaoke and singing, dance performance was usually the first thing that came to my mind if I had to make any. However in my freshman year in high school, this club VIBE was so intriguing that I really wanted to be one of the members. To introduce the club, one of the juniors confidently performed in front of our classroom without any proper preparation, and that was the exact moment that I totally got into singing. At that time I did not have any special experience or settled style of myself, so the first audition obviously turned out to be a letting down result. After that audition, my first challenge, I started to seriously think about which song styles I actually like and can do well. Trying to figure out, I've spent that whole week struggling with this issue. Then I've realized that Rhythm and Blues songs are what I am the most fond of. Since VIBE was the group that mostly focused on R&B, I couldn't stop auditioning for the club. I had to get in that club! I started to listen to music everyday, during all free times and tried to develop myself for the next audition. Not getting into VIBE was definitely disappointing at first, but I am now thankful about it that I got a chance to seriously go over my situations. After improving myself by continuous practice, I was able to be an actual member of VIBE when I coincidently went to karaoke with the original members. Though it wasn't a proper audition, they suggested me to be a new member, recognizing my improvement. It was one of the moments in my life that I felt huge joy. VIBE also is very meaningful for me because its the club that provided opportunity to perform in front of people for the first time in my life. The first performance was pretty successful and I wouldn't forget all the moments of the performance forever. I am still contacting the members and converse a lot, especially with topics related to music. Even though we are now mostly apart from each other, we communicate with the best thing in common, music. I definitely think music is a bridge that connects people, no matter how they are apart or different from each other.
